A couple of friends and I headed down south to Unawatuna Beach last weekend. With the opening of the Southern Expressway the journey is slightly over one hour - a great improvement from the 3 and a half hour -long expedition we once had to take!
Approaching the entrance to the Southern Expressway is still rather chaotic, but nothing your experienced Walkers Tours guide can't handle really!
Although the month of April is technically off season for south coast beaches and the ominous cumulonimbus clouds hung over us for most of the day, we were able to experience a typical rose-hued Unawatuna-bay sunset! Très Magnifique!

I simply HAVE to mention these mouth wateringly-delicious banana fritters we gobbled up at Full Moon Resort, Unawatuna. The gooey bananas encapsulated by crispy golden batter, topped off with warm kithul pani ( Sri Lankan treacle) and a scoop of vanilla ice cream were #TODIEFOR!
